It’s true you only hurt the ones you love, but that’s not what friends are for.
Our friends are a bridge over troubled waters and a ladder to higher planes, they are a bubble protecting us from a hurtful world and a blowtorch to blast through it. They are the holes we keep falling in, and some have less nutritional value than ketchup, but they’d sooner set themselves on fire than see harm come to us.
And we all take advantage of that once in a while. We drop them to see if they’ll bounce, and stray to see how far they’ll follow, until we whistle for help one day and they do not come.
The only thing worse than losing a friend is knowing it was your fault. Don’t make the same mistakes I’ve made.
